CALL FOR BOARD MEMBERS
February 2009

The Mission Cultural Center for Latino Arts (MCCLA) is seeking enthusiastic and committed people from a diverse variety of backgrounds to join as Board Members.

MCCLA has devoted over 32 years to community service by making the arts accessible as an essential element to community development and well-being. Throughout these years, the Center has offered dance, music and art classes, a youth program, gallery openings, cultural celebrations, and much more!

As part of our commitment to strengthen MCCLA, the Board of Directors is seeking to recruit six new members by the end of the year. MCCLA is seeking bicultural and bilingual (Spanish) individuals, especially those who have skills in any of the following areas: Latino arts, arts or nonprofit administration, finance, fundraising, marketing, law, or human resources.

Board members bring a wide range of talent, experience, and skills to the organization. The active involvement and participation of board members is a vital and necessary component of MCCLA in that they are responsible for ensuring that MCCLA is effectively managing its services, finances, and meeting all of the terms and conditions of its funding. MCCLA has an active board and members contribute in the following ways:

  • Attend monthly meetings and occasional MCCLA sponsored events
  • Participate in at least one committee
  • Periodically volunteer time and skills towards board and committee projects as they arise; and
  • Support the organization’s fundraising efforts.

Please note that this is a working Board, and as such, the commitment required by Board Members will exceed the time required to attend one monthly Board Meeting.

MCCLA is embarking on an exciting period of renewal and you will find that being on our board is a rewarding and invaluable leadership opportunity. If being a part of the Latino arts community sounds exciting and you are willing to volunteer your time and skills, we highly encourage you to send a brief letter of interest and resume to the Board of Directors. Applications are being accepted on an ongoing basis.
