Temistocles Betancourt

Temistocles Fuentes Betancourt (Temi) is the Artistic Director of Grupo Experimental Nago. He has over 40 years of experience as a principal dancer, Regisseur, professor, and choreographer with the Ballet Folklorico de Oriente. In Santiago de Cuba, he also served as regisseur for Ballet Folkloric Cutumba, Director of Conjunto Folklorico Kazumbi, Professor of Salsa at Ateneo Cultural Antonio Bravo Correoso, and Choreographer of the youth Carnaval group, “Los Chicos Alegres de Veguita de Galos”. Since coming to the US he has appeared in “Oyuoro” a folkloric performance in New York City and has choreographed and performed at numerous events and festivals. Temi is currently a master teacher at Mission Cultural Center for Latino Arts. Temi teaches classes in the Afro-Cuban and Afro-Cuban-Haitian (Franco-Haitian) traditions. These include Orishas, Rumba, Arará, and the many dances of Oriente Province. Temi utilizes his vast knowledge to impart the spirit of these dances and encourages students to experience the enjoyment of movement. LIVE MUSIC!!!
